5 Summer Wine Cocktails to Enjoy

Summer-Wine-CocktailsEnjoying summer entertaining usually involves cool and refreshing wine drinks, so we have found some good summer wine cocktails for you to enjoy. The ingredients are simple and the amounts are designed per serving, so multiple that by the number of guests you will be serving and you can create a nice punch. Or keep it all together in a chilled pitcher for guests to pour themselves.

Summer Wine Cocktail Tips

Here are some tips to help you have a more refreshing summer wine cocktail.

  • Add any carbonated drinks, which includes champagne, last.
  • Make sure to chill all your liquid ingredients before combining into the drinks. This keeps the flavors in tact and not dilute as much when poured over ice.
  • When using pitchers or containers to serve from, keep them chilled against summer heat.
  • All of these drinks are both low alcohol content and low calorie content. What a great way to enjoy a refreshing summer evening.

Wine Cooler

3 ounces of red or white wine plus 4-5 ounces of lemon-line soda. Mix and pour over ice. Just that simple.

Pineapple White Wine Cooler

Dissolve a half a teaspoon of powder sugar in 2 ounces of pineapple juice. Add 2 ounces of white wine, then 2 ounces of carbonated water. Garnish with fruit.

Mimosa

Equal amounts of chilled champagne and chilled orange juice. This is usually served as a breakfast or brunch cocktail, but it works great as a summer evening drink as well.

Queen Charlotte

Mix 2 ounces of red wine, 1 ounce of grenadine and 3 ounces of lemon-line soda together. Pour over ice. Be sure to garnish with a cherry.

Kir

3 ounces of white wine stirred together with a splash of crème de cassis. Pour over ice and garnish with a twist of lemon.

Choices for Wine Glasses

With any chilled wine, I prefer to serve them in stemmed glasses. Holding the stem keeps the heat from my hand away from the chilled drink and keeps my hands from dealing with the condensation that will form.

As long as it’s going to be a summer fun drink, why not serve it up in a summer fun glass? I flipped over this Lolita wine glass. OK, pun was intended. The flip-flops that decorate this wine glass are ideal for summer wine cocktails.

Use wine glass charms to help identify glasses when you have guests. Even pick ones that will match or accent your summer party themes.
